A team of Bengaluru city police, which had gone to Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh in search of the accused in connection with techie Atul Subhash’s suicide case, found that his wife and her family members were absconding.

The police have put a notice on the closed door of their house, asking the fleeing family to appear before them in the next three days for questioning.

Atul’s wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania, and uncle Sushil Singhania, have been booked for abetment to suicide. They are all listed as accused in the FIR registered at Marathahalli Police Station here.

A team of the city police reached Jaunpur on Thursday night, and they were reportedly coordinating with the local police to nab the accused. A video reportedly showing Atul Subhash’s mother-in-law fleeing her house on a bike went viral on Thursday.

Denying rumours of the accused already being detained, City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda clarified on Friday that they were yet to make any arrests in the case. “Our team has reached Uttar Pradesh and efforts are on to track down the accused,” he said.

In his death note, Atul Subhash said that he had been pushed to end his life. Atul allegedly ended his life in the city leaving behind a 40-page death note and an 81-minute video-recorded message in which he blamed his wife and her family members for framing him in false cases and demanding high alimony, among other allegations. His death has triggered a campaign by his friends seeking justice for him.
