CPI ridicules ‘Vision 2047’, picks holes in Chandrababu Naidu’s per capita claims
How can the vision for a ‘Swarna Andhra’ be realised without first addressing the disparities between the rich and the poor, asks CPI leader K. Ramakrishna
by G.V.R. Subba Rao · The HinduCommunist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K. Ramakrishna criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Swarna Andhra Vision-2047, saying it is “akin to a servile tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat”.
“Mr. Naidu, back in 2001, had released the ‘Vision 2020’ document. However, it did little to bridge the gap between the rich and poor. Now, his ‘Vision 2047’ for the State seems more like an act of flattery towards Mr. Modi. How can the vision for a ‘Swarna Andhra’ be realised without first addressing the disparities between the rich and the poor?” Mr. Ramakrishna said at a press conference here on Sunday.
“Mr. Naidu’s claims of increasing the State’s per capita income from the current $3000 to $42,000 by 2047 are absurd. At the current exchange rate of ₹82 per USD, and predictions that the rupee may fall to ₹200 by the year 2047, Mr. Naidu’s claims of achieving a per capita income of ₹84 lakh per annum are laughable,” the CPI leader added.
On Pushpa 2 stampede
Commenting on a recent tragedy where a woman lost her life in a stampede while attending a premiere of the movie Pushpa 2, Mr. Ramakrishna said it was unfortunate that political leaders like Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy showed a lack of empathy by “shamelessly supporting the actor” who earns crores in remuneration instead of visiting the victim’s family.
