The Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) will organise a protest march to the regional office of the Thottada Government ITI on December 16 against the alleged violence by Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists.

Addressing the media in Kannur on Thursday (December 12), KSU State president Aloshious Xavier blamed the SFI for creating an environment where other student organisations struggled to function on campuses under its influence.

Mr. Xavier alleged that SFI activists carried out a one-sided attack on KSU members, including the ITI unit secretary. He claimed that the violence escalated after the KSU unit was established on the campus for the first time in 28 years.

“This can never be allowed,” Mr. Xavier said, adding that the KSU State committee was determined to oppose such actions.

Meanwhile, SFI State Secretary P.M. Arsho dismissed the allegations accusing KSU of instigating the violence with the support of Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan. He claimed that the violence was led by a Youth Congress office bearer to disrupt the upcoming campus elections in which SFI had strong chances of victory.
