Telangana Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu told the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the government had constituted a three-member official committee to check whether the industries that were allotted lands are utilising them for the intended purposes or whether they are diverted for other uses.

The three-member committee, headed by Industries director G. Malsur, has Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) executive director and another official from the corporation as members. It has been asked to submit its report before February. The Minister was replying to a query on TGIIC raised by BJP member K. Venkata Ramana Reddy during the Question Hour on the second day of Third Legislative Assembly on Monday (December 16, 2024).

Mr. Reddy expressed concern that he had asked about several details relating to lands allotted to industrial units, but several of them were set aside in the process of clubbing it with similar queries. He alleged that though the government gave lands for promoting industrial investments, some of the companies were utilising it as collateral to obtain loans from banks that were being utilised for other purposes. Mr. Babu however assured the member that he would give a detailed reply to all the queries raised by the member at the earliest.
