The police have arrested Mohammed Rabees, the driver of the second luxury car involved in a promotional reel shoot on Beach Road, which claimed the life of T.K. Alvin, 20, from Vadakara. The 32-year-old from Thalakkulathoor was booked on charge of rash and negligent driving.

K. Sabith Rahman, a native of Manjeri and driver of the other luxury car involved in the incident, had already been arrested, said the police. “The registration certificate owner of the luxury vehicle driven by Rabees has been asked to report at the station for further verification,” said a senior officer from the Vellayil station. The Motor Vehicles department had earlier suspended the driving licences of the two drivers.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on December 10, when the youth was reportedly knocked down by the luxury car driven by Sabith. Police said Alvin was filming a car chase for a promotional reel on his mobile phone near the median on Beach Road near Vellayil. He sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead at a private hospital in the city.
