Explore possibilities to supply eco-friendly leaf plates to temples, says AP Tribal Welfare Secretary
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduA.P. Tribal Welfare Department Secretary S. Bhargavi suggested the ITDA officials to explore possibilities to supply eco-friendly leaf plates (Vistarakulu) prepared by the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) members to TTD temples and Simhachalam Devasthanam.
She said that proper marketing should be done for the Van Dhan Vikas Vikas Kendra (VDVK) products, while every tribal women should emerge as an entrepreneur.
She conducted a review meeting with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) officials from North Andhra to discuss about the VDVK centres, their functioning, training programme to the members, development of products, at the Tribal Welfare office here in Rushikonda on Tuesday. She said that steps must be taken to strengthen the VDVK centres.
During the meeting, ITDA Project Officer, Paderu, V Abhishek said that there are 106 VDVKs under ITDA Paderu limits. About Rs 3.1 crore funds were released for the VDVKs, he said, adding that purchase of equipment, training programmes were also conducted for the members.
ITDA POs from Rampachodavaram, Seethampeta, Parvathipuram, KR Puram and other areas were present.
