Son hands over father, who committed robbery, to police

The gesture of a youth in handing over his father who was involved in robbery to police has received the appreciation of police. 

At 9 am on Wednesday, Vasantha, 80, a retired teacher, boarded an auto from Meenambakkam to go to Tambaram Railway Station to proceed to Tiruchi. The auto driver diverted the auto to Pachamalai hills near Chromepet and stole her 10 sovereign gold chains and abandoned her. Later she made her way to the Tambaram police station and preferred a complaint.

At the time of registering the case, Ramachandran, 22, son of Ganesan (auto driver) handed over his father to Tambaram Police Station along with the stolen items. The Inspector made enquiry with the auto driver Ganesh, who confessed to the crime and handed over stolen 10 sovereign gold chain to the Inspector. In a heartening display of integrity and moral courage, Ramachandran, a part time driver turned in his father, Ganesan, for committing a crime.

Tambaram City Police Commissioner Abhin Dinesh Modak said when he discovered that his father was in possession of the stolen gold chains, he immediately questioned him and then handed him over to the Tambaram Police Station. Ramachandran’s selfless act has sent a powerful message about the importance of upholding the law and doing what is right, even when it involves someone close to us. His actions have earned him widespread admiration

 Mr. Modak appreciated his honesty, by presenting him with a certificate of appreciation.
