LDF wins bypoll in Alankode panchayat in Malappuram

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Wednesday gave a shock to the United Democratic Front (UDF) by wresting Perumukku ward in Alankode panchayat. LDF’s Abdul Rahman defeated the UDF’s Ali Paruvingal by 410 votes in the byelection held on Tuesday. The LDF has 11 members in the 19-member council.

However, UDF candidates won the byelections held in district panchayat’s Thrikkalangode division, Karuvambram division of Manjeri municipality, and Marathani ward of Thrikkalangode panchayat.

UDF’s N.M. Rajan defeated the LDF’s K.C. Baburaj by 6,786 votes in the Thrikkalangode division of Malappuram District Panchayat.

In Karuvambram division of Manjeri municipality, UDF’s Faisamon P.A. defeated LDF’s C. Vibin by 43 votes.

UDF’s Laila Jaleel defeated LDF’s Divya by 520 votes in Marathani ward of Thrikkalangode panchayat.
