‘’Run for Kannada’’ Marathon on Dec. 17 to promote 87th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana

The ‘’Run for Kannada’’ marathon, which is being organised to increase participation in the 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Mandya from December 20, will be held on December 17 from 7.00 a.m.

Dr. Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Mandya, said it will be flagged off from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Stadium and will conclude at the venue of the Sammelana near Sanjo Hospital.

Speaking about the arrangements for the run, he said that drinking water and biscuits would be provided for all participants and multiple teams of medical and para-medical staff would be deployed along the marathon route to handle any exigencies.

The Deputy Commissioner said the marathon is being held not only to create awareness about the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana event but also to ensure there is greater public participation from people of Mandya and other districts as well.

‘’The Mandya edition of the Sammelana will be unique compared to the earlier events. Apart from school and college students, officials, government employees and their family members, NCC, NSS, scouts, and guides are also expected to take part in both the events - marathon and the Sammelana’’, Dr. Kumar said.

The Run for Kannada will be flagged off by Sri Nirmalananda Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt and popular stars from the Kannada film industry are also expected to participate.

Mandya MLA P. Ravikumar released the T-shirt for the marathon. . The MLA called upon the people of Mandya including students, officials, and NGOs to take part in the run to make it a success.
