Andhra Pradesh Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy has asked the officials to develop a model colony in every Assembly constituency.

At a review meeting held at the Secretariat on December 10 (Tuesday), the Minister emphasised the importance of providing essential infrastructure, including roads, drinking water, electricity, and drainage systems, in the colonies where houses are being constructed. He asked the officials to ensure that these facilities be set up on a war footing.

Mr. Parthasarathy suggested that the officials should prepare a report outlining the necessary funds required to create the basic infrastructure in these model colonies. The officials have to ensure that the beneficiaries do not face any difficulties in procuring sand and other materials for construction. The said report will be brought to the attention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to ensure prompt sanctioning of the funds, he said.

“The low-interest loan limit can be increased from ₹35,000 to ₹1 lakh for each beneficiary,” the Minister said.

Stressing the importance of completing houses as soon as possible, he said that delays in the housing projects might result in beneficiaries not receiving houses. The officials have to create awareness among the beneficiaries regarding this issue.  Under the PMAY-2 scheme, an agreement has been finalised with the Central government to build houses, and steps will be taken to identify eligible beneficiaries, he added.
