Parents apprised of advantages of National Cadet Corps certificates
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) on Thursday organised a ‘Parents’ Meet’ for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets here. Lieutenant Colonel M.N. Monish, Commanding Officer of the 35 Andhra Battalion, Chittoor, participated in it.
Urging the parents to encourage their children to join the NCC, Lt. Colonel Monish underscored the crucial role of the NCC in fostering discipline, patriotism, leadership and a sense of service among the youth. He stressed the recognition of the NCC as the largest uniformed youth organisation worldwide and its vital contribution to contemporary education systems.
Lt. Colonel Monish informed parents about the considerable advantages associated with the NCC training and the associated certifications of A, B and C certificates in the context of higher education and career prospects.
He detailed the benefits applicable to students holding NCC certifications such as priority consideration in counselling for admissions into EAMCET, ECET, ICET, EDSET, polytechnic and diploma programmes; additional marks in police recruitment examinations for holders of A, B and C certificates and targeted recruitment efforts for C certificate holders in the Army as well as preferential consideration in various government, private and specialised roles, including intelligence, security and safety sectors.
He urged the cadets to allocate a minimum of four hours a week for NCC activities to enhance their understanding of its numerous career-related benefits.
Principal of MITS C. Yuvaraj congratulated the cadets who achieved a 100% pass rate and obtained their C certificates. He commended their dedication and encouraged them to sustain their commitment to excellence.
