Class V girl fakes kidnap, creates tension at PNBS in Vijayawada
The 12-year-old, fearing that her parents would join her in a hostel, runs away from home, reaches the bus station where she lies to the police that she was kidnapped
by Rajulapudi Srinivas · The HinduA girl studying Class V, for fear of joining a hostel, allegedly ran away from her home, creating tension at the busy Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) on Monday, December 16. She lied to the APSRTC staff and the police there that she was kidnapped at Guntur and brought to Vijayawada in a car, said the police, who probed into the case and did not find the entry of the said car in the vicinity.
Speaking to The Hindu, NTR Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu said that upon learning that the girl’s kidnap story was false, they handed over the girl to her parents after giving counselling.
The 12-year-old girl allegedly told the Krishnalanka police that she escaped from the kidnappers’ car when they stopped the vehicle near PNBS and left for lunch, leaving her inside the car.
The team led by South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) U. Bangaru Raju and Krishnalanka Circle Inspector S.S.V. Nagaraju observed the CCTV footage at PNBS, where the girl said that the kidnappers stopped their car but could not find the traces of the girl or the vehicle.
The police, after interacting with the girl, realised that she had lied about the kidnap. Later, she told the police that her parents had warned her to join her in a hostel as she was not focussing on her studies and that she fled from home for fear of joining a hostel.
