Karnataka govt. sanctions over ₹300 crore for creating power, road infrastructure facilities in Ullal, says U.T. Khader

U.T. Khader, Speaker and Mangaluru MLA, said on Thursday that the State government has sanctioned over ₹300 crore for creating and improving electricity and road infrasture facilities, including laying underground power supply cables, in Ullal.

In that, ₹200 crore is meant for creating and improving electricity infrastructure alone, he said.

Talking to reporters in Mangaluru, Mr. Khader said a separate power supply line will be laid from Mangaluru to Ullal. A new Mescom sub-station will come up in Kotekar. The Mescom sub-station at Thokkottu will be upgraded from 32 kV to 132 kV station. With the new power infrastructure facilities, Ullal residents will get relief from frequent power shutdowns.

Mr. Khader said ₹100 crore has been sanctioned for road works. Another ₹25 crore will be used for road junction improvement works. Mr. Khader said ₹6 crore of Calamity Relief Fund will be used for development works in Kotepura and Boliyar.

The State government has sanctioned a new fire station, which will come up on a two-acre land in Pajir. About ₹5 crore will be spent for strengthening basic infrastructure of government high schools, pre-university and degree colleges in his Mangaluru (erstwhile Ullal) Assembly constituency. The government has sanctioned construction of a new circuit house in Konaje, he said.

While discharging his duty as Speaker, Mr. Khader said he has been successful in getting grants to meet the development needs of his constituency.

The winter session of the Karnataka Legislature will be held in Belagavi between December 9 and 19. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others will attend the business advisory committee meeting on December 9 and take decision on further extension of the session. The session in Belagavi will deal with issues of the State and special emphasis will be on issues related to north Karnataka, he said.
