The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Hyderabad has agreed to consider increasing appointment slots in the 14 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) across Telangana.

A coordination meeting was held on Thursday at Dak Sadan by Chief Postmaster General P. V. S. Reddy, along with other officials such as Sumitha Ayodhya, Postmaster General, Hyderabad Region; N. R. Visalatchy, Postmaster General, Headquarters Region.

The move is expected to reduce waiting time and address the rising demand for passport services, especially in rural areas, where the demand has been increasing. Additionally, the meeting emphasised upgrading facilities at POPSKs to improve customer convenience. Publicity materials will also be displayed at these centres to raise awareness about the services offered.

The meeting also saw Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) assuring its support in making all 265 Post Office Aadhaar Enrolment Centers (POAECs) in Telangana operational. To this end, the UIDAI will assist with training Department of Posts operators and ensuring their certification. Special focus will be placed on addressing the Aadhaar enrolment gap among children aged 0-5 years, as well as mandatory biometric updates for children in the 5-7 and 15-17 age groups. To expedite the process, camps will be organised at Anganwadi centers, schools, junior colleges, and residential communities over the next fortnight.
