by G.P. SHUKLA · The HinduThe Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday began preparations for the ‘Vaikunta Dwara’ Darshan at the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala, to be held between January 10 to 19.
The narrow passage circumambulating the innermost sanctum sanctorum of the hill temple will be ceremoniously opened on January 10 and kept open for the benefit of devotees till January 19. Anticipating a huge pilgrim turnout, TTD aims to implement a range of measures prioritising darshan access for common devotees.
Rules and regulations
TTD has resolved to permit only devotees with valid darshan tokens for darshan of the deity; though devotees without tokens can visit Tirumala, they will not be allowed darshan.
Further streamlining the process, privilege darshans for parents with infants, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, NRIs, and defense personnel shall remain suspended during this period. VIP break darshans will also be canceled, except for protocol dignitaries. There will also be no special provisions for devotees wearing Govinda Mala.
TTD has urged all pilgrims to strictly adhere to the time slots indicated on their darshan tokens or tickets to avoid unnecessary waiting.
Restrictions have also been slapped on former public representatives, ex-bureaucrats, and former TTD chairpersons, who will not be allowed Vaikunta Dwara Darshan on Vaikunta Ekadasi. However, they will be permitted darshan from January 11 to 19.
Additionally, TTD has decided to deploy 3,000 Srivari Sevaks, supported by scouts and guides, to manage the pilgrim crowd throughout the ten-day event.
