People trapped in lift in Kochi building rescued

A group of people were trapped inside a lift on the third floor of a multi-storey building of the Kerala State Housing Board at Panamppilly Nagar here on Friday morning.

After the emergency key to open the lift also did not work, an SOS went to the Gandhi Nagar fire station around 10.45 a.m. A team rushed to the spot and rescued those trapped inside the lift by forcefully opening its door using a hydraulic spreader. None of the trapped people complained of any discomfort, fire and rescue services sources said.

A team led by senior fire and rescue officer Anilraj and comprising fire and rescue officers Hari Praveen, Manu, Kevin Antony, Sanofar, Akshay Bella, and Uthaman participated in the rescue efforts.
