The latest phase of a scheme to build 600 homes on a former National Grid gas works site near Partington town centre has been submitted. Countryside Homes has tabled a ‘reserved matters’ planning application to Trafford council with more details about its plans for phase four of the development which includes 79 homes at Heath Farm Lane.

Outline planning permission has already been granted for the wider scheme and the site has been cleared of all buildings ready for construction to begin. Full approval has also been given for phases one and two for 80 and 68 houses respectively as well as outline approval for the rest of the site for up to 452 homes.

A design and access statement submitted by architects DGL Associates sets out more detailed plans for public open space - including a Green Square - sustainable drainage features and landscaping. It says: “The scheme is for the provision of much-needed high-quality housing as part of a larger residential development with potential for a green square in the central location.

“House types will be 2.5 storey houses with 1930s design identified as appropriate for the location.” Access to the 6.8-acre site will be along the southern boundary, off Broadway, in line with the initial outline approval. There will also be a spine road through the site.

The statement adds: “The site has good access to public transport with bus services to Altrincham, Carrington, Urmston, Stretford, Trafford centre and various destinations in Manchester terminating a Piccadilly Gardens.

“This is an entirely residential scheme, however, strong emphasis was given to the creation of spaces for recreation, play and other activities.”
