UK's 2025 Bank Holiday Calendar: Here's When to Take Your Break

by · Manchester Evening News

With only three bank holidays remaining in 2024, many are already casting their eyes towards 2025 to see when those cherished bank holidays will occur.

The dates of these holidays shift annually, influenced by weekends or due to movable feasts like Easter. Regrettably, with no significant national celebrations on the cards, there are currently no plans to add any additional bank holidays to the eight days we're set to receive in 2025.

At present, the next bank holiday in England and Wales is Wednesday, December 25 (Christmas Day), followed by Boxing Day - Thursday, December 26 - which is also a bank holiday. This means that the first bank holiday of 2025 will be New Year's Day, Wednesday January 1.

While this year's Easter bank holidays were on March 29 and April 1, Easter will be slightly later next year, with Good Friday falling on Friday April 18, and Easter Monday on Monday, April 21.

The two bank holidays in May will occur on Monday, May 5 and Monday, May 26, while the summer bank holiday, typically towards the end of the school summer break, will be on Monday, August 25.

To conclude the year, the Christmas bank holidays for next year will be on Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26. Savvy employees can start planning now to maximise their annual leave by scheduling holidays around these dates to extend their time off, reports the Liverpool Echo.
