Two people rushed to hospital as major road closed following crash

Two people were rushed to hospital following a crash which closed a major road near Tameside. Officers were called out to the A628 Manchester Road, near the border of Hollingworth and Tintwistle, at 6.19pm on Sunday (October 13).

Derbyshire Police says the incident involved a Chevrolet Cruze car and a Vauxhall Combo van. The road was taped off while emergency services worked at the scene.

Neither casualty is believed to have suffered serious injuries in the incident, Derbyshire Police said. The road, which is part of the route between Manchester and Sheffield via Woodhead Pass, opened after almost three hours.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision on the A628 Manchester Road, Hollingworth, at 6.19pm on Sunday, October 13. The incident involved a Chevrolet Cruze and a Vauxhall Combo.

"Two people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious. The road was closed while the incident was dealt with but reopened at around 9.15pm."
