Appeal after man threatened and robbed as he walked home by canal

Police have issued an appeal after a man was threatened and robbed as he walked home by a canal in Manchester city centre.

The frightening incident reportedly happened at around 10.15pm on Friday, August 30 this year. Police said the victim was walking home along the canal towpath when he was grabbed and threatened.

He then had money stolen from him. Officers investigating the robbery have now released CCTV pictures of two males they want to speak to.

Police believe they 'may be able to assist with enquiries'. Sharing the photos on social media yesterday (October 11), Greater Manchester Police said: "Police appeal for information following a robbery in the city centre.

"At around 10:15pm on Friday 30 August we were called to Canal Tow Path to reports of a robbery. It’s believed that a man was walking home when he was grabbed, and threatened, and had some money stolen from him.

"Police are following several lines of enquiry but would like to speak to the men pictured as they may be able to assist with enquiries. If you have any information, please call police on 101 quoting log 3822 of 30/08/2024."
