Police issue update after man left fighting for life in pub 'disturbance'
by Ashlie Blakey · Manchester Evening NewsTwo suspects who were arrested after a man was left fighting for his life following a 'disturbance' in Bury have been released on bail, police have confirmed.
The victim - a man aged in his 40s - was rushed to hospital with life-threatening' injuries after the incident on Tottington Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday night (November 16). Pictures show a cordon put in place outside The Swan Hotel pub, with the pub also closed off throughout Sunday.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said on Sunday that the force had made 'arrests', but did not reveal any further details. Today a force spokesperson said two suspects, aged in their 20s, had since been released on bail.

No further updates on the victim's condition have been released. Bosses at the Swan Hotel previously issued a statement on Facebook stating that the pub was closed on Sunday due to a 'police incident'.
They issued a further statement later that evening stating that the pub would re-open on Monday. A GMP spokesperson said previously: "On Saturday 16 November at around 11.30pm we received a report of a disturbance on Tottington Road in Bury. Officers attended and located a man in his late 40s who was taken to hospital with serious injuries, he remains there for treatment to what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.

"Arrests have been made in relation to the incident, and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information that may help detectives are asked to call 101 quoting log number 3430 of 16/11/24."
A neighbour who lives close to the pub said they had heard 'arguing' before midnight, and said that the police had remained there ever since. Another resident said they had returned home to find a large police presence.
He said: "I came home at about 12.30pm. There was at least five vans there. Forensics were also there and they came back in the morning.
"It must be something bad if they’re still there. I heard it was a fight or something like that." Another nearby resident said they had been unable to retrieve their vehicle from the pub's car park due to the ongoing investigation.
