Richard Madeley's daughter Chloe hits back at 'dirty' word and says growing up famous is 'miserable'

Chloe Madeley has responded to being called a 'nepo baby' as she told why growing up famous was actually 'miserable'. The personal trainer is the daughter of former This Morning hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

But Chloe, 37, has shared that her parent's fame and success led to harsh criticism as she was growing up and trying to build her own career.

Speaking on Loose Women star Olivia Atwood's video podcast, So Wrong It's Right, Chloe brought up the tag 'nep baby' - which is a colloquial term used to describe individuals who have gained opportunities or success in their careers primarily due to familial connections.

"This whole nepotism, nepo baby, it's such a dirty word and actually people don't realise how hard that is to hear about yourself," the mum-of-one shared.

"Actually it's very common - whether your family works in law or if they work in medicine or if they work in entertainment - that you naturally follow their footsteps because that's the world you know and that's the world you're kind of educated in.

"My parents have nothing to do with health and fitness and you can't say that it's nepotistic. But what I can say is that because of my career in television I had a built-in audience on social media and that makes doing whatever you go into next easier."

She added: "But I can tell you now, for any of those kids of famous people who've kind of done what I've done, the most miserable times of my life when I was in the spotlight. And the happiest times of my life are when it's just been me in my gym on my own."

It comes after Richard discussed his relationship with his daughter's ex-husband as he revealed how Chloe and James Haskell are getting on a year after their split.

The couple issued a joint statement in October 2023 after speculation about the status of their marriage. They confirmed they were no longer in a romantic relationship after being wed for five years, saying that they had "mutually decided" to separate in September 2024.

They said at the time that their focus remained on their young daughter, Bodhi, and the pair have been seen together with their two-year daughter Bodhi and Richard has revealed they are holidaying together.

"Chloe is very happy, she and James are going to France together, they have a very happy uncoupling," the Good Morning Britain host told The Sun. "It’s a very civilised relationship – we see a lot of James, he’s at the house quite a lot, either with Chloe or without," Richard continued.

He revealed that he still goes for a drink with his ex-son-in-law from time to time, before adding: "It’s a very civilised divorce. The co-parenting is going really well."
