Strictly Come Dancing fans were left issuing a complaint about Nick Knowles' return to the ballroom while others 'felt sorry' for him. The DIY SOS star was only cleared to perform 24 hours before returning to the ballroom on Saturday night (October 12).

Nick was unable to take part in last weekend'smovie-themed special due to injury. He injured his knee after falling during rehearsals but was cleared to dance by the medical and physio teams, the BBC announced on Friday (October 11).

Nick 62, and his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk will perform the routine they had planned for movie week, a Charleston to Rain On The Roof from the Paddington 2 soundtrack.

The TV star explained that he had injured his knee during rehearsals on the Friday prior to last week’s Saturday night show, saying "it was a huge disappointment".

The two scored a total of 21 for their Charleston with judge Motsi Mabuse welcoming them back saying: "I think it takes a lot of courage you came back."

Prior to dancing, Knowles revealed he had been looking forward to doing the routine for his 10-year-old son Eddie, whom he said was a huge fan of the Paddington movie. Motsi said she was “100% sure” Knowles’s son was proud of him following the dance.

But Strictly fans were divided about his return - despite the rule being that couples can get a bye to the next week if an injury or illness sets them back.

@xxncisaddictxx said: "I hope Nick recovers from his injury but its the second injury he's had I honestly think he shouldn't be there it's not really fair on the other contestants #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing

But @suzicarrigan commented: "Of all the dances to give Nick Knowles after coming back from a knee injury…a Charleston #Strictly." @VillagerCFC echoed: "Only #Strictly can give out a #Charleston to Nick with a bad knee. Ridiculous."

However, @RyanTheSoapking shared: "Nick is such a fighter! Against all the odds surviving 2 injuries he's come back to the show and put his best foot forward. Respect to Luba as well for her last minute amendments to the dance. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

@edgedancefit added: "Feel sorry for Nick. Injured shoulder followed by an injured knee. Sadly it does make your moves apprehensive, pain does that. Stats show those celebs who miss a week, invariable get voted out the following week. #strictly #bbc."
