Man denies sexually exploiting two teenage girls as trial date set

A man has denied sexually exploiting two teenage girls.

Christopher Oates, 44, appeared via videolink from HMP Forest Bank at Manchester Crown Court this morning (October 17).

He pleaded not guilty to three offences of sexual activity with a child, two offences of causing or inciting a child to engage in prostitution and one offence of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

During the half-hour hearing legal and administration matters were discussed, that cannot be reported at this stage, between prosecuting counsel Gwen Henshaw and defence counsel Rebecca Penfold.

A trial date was set for March 3 2025 and is estimated to last for up to two weeks.

Mr Oates, of no fixed abode, will next appear for a further case management hearing on January 15th 2025. He was remanded into custody.
