The chilling five-word voice note Britain's youngest knife killer sent on Snapchat after murder

by · Manchester Evening News

A chilling voice note sent by a killer child hours after he murdered a stranger revealed how he brazenly dismissed the crime in five words: "It is what it is."

The 12-year-old was one of two schoolboys who plunged a terrifying machete through Shawn Seesahai's heart and 'chopped at' his head when they randomly crossed paths in a park. Snapchat messages between the duo reveal how they discussed the stabbing in the hours after the killing in Wolverhampton. While one of the murderers admitted he felt 'scared', the other callously admitted he was not.

The messages were retrieved by West Midlands Police when they launched a probe into the killing. They have been revealed after they youths, both 12 at the time of the attack and who cannot be named for legal reasons, were locked up yesterday (Friday) for their crimes which makes them Britain's youngest knife killers.

In a group chat, a video showing the murder scene with the message 'someone got stabbed' was sent. One of the boys replied 'we know' before going on to message: "Everyone's talking abt it, literally everyone, Everyone knows."

The second boy - who owned the machete and took it to the scene - then sent a voice note saying: "It is what it is." His accomplice replied: "Everyone knows it happened, I'm scared man."

The second boy then shared further messages saying 'I'm not' and 'idrc' - which means 'I don't really care'. The other boy then responded with a voice note saying: "I ain't said nowt cause every time I talk about it, like I act weird apparently so (inaudible) comes and goes."

Then the second boy sent a response which said: "I'm just scared your you too." Nottingham Crown Court heard how the horror unfolded in Stowlawn playing fields, in East Park, last November.

Mr Seesahai - originally from the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla, in the Caribbean - had been in the UK for cataract surgery. He was living in Handsworth at the time of his death after staying in the Midlands to continue his education.

The victim and his friend were in the park when he was ambushed by his killers. He was 'shoulder-barged' by the smaller of the two - who had tucked the £40 machete into his trousers and smuggled it to the park.

'Within seconds', one of the boys had slashed Mr Seesahai with the blade while the other punched, kicked and stamped on him. The machete was plunged so deep into his back that it went through his heart and almost came out of his chest.

A piece of bone also came away from his skull as his head was savagely 'chopped at'. The boys - from Wolverhampton and now aged 13 - were detained for life, with minimum terms of eight years and six months each.

The killer who callously dismissed the killing as "it is what it is" bought the murder weapon from a 'friend of a friend'. He was also pictured making 'gun' gestures just months before murdering Mr Seesahai.
