Major road in Bolton shut as man cut from car following crash

Emergency services raced to Chorley New Road in Horwich, Bolton, at around 4:30pm on Saturday (November 16) following reports of a collision.
They used cutting equipment to rescue a man from a car before he was assessed by paramedics. The exact detail of his condition is not yet known.
The road has been blocked off from the junction of Winter Hey Lane and Mason Street to Curteis Street and Rock Street, with police reportedly still on the scene.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 4.30pm this afternoon (Saturday 16th November), two fire engines from Bolton Central and Horwich fire station, along with the Technical Response Unit from Leigh, were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on Chorley New Road, Horwich.
“Crews arrived quickly at the scene where one of the cars was on its side. Firefighters worked to make the car stable, they used cutting equipment, lighting and a long board to rescue a man from the car, before he was assessed at the scene by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around forty minutes.”
