Tragedy as missing woman, 82, found dead

An elderly woman reported as missing has sadly been found dead, police in Salford have confirmed today.

Greater Manchester Police issued an appeal on Wednesday for the public's help to find Ann, with the plea being shared widely across social media.

No surname for her was given. The force said Ann was last seen walking towards Walkden Road in Worsley, Salford, on Wednesday afternoon.

GMP shared a description of her and issued photographs, saying she was carrying a black bag at the time.

Police in Salford confirmed on Thursday that tragically, she was found deceased this morning. No further details have been provided by GMP.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, GMP Salford said: "Thank you for those who shared our missing appeal for Ann from Salford. Tragically it is sad news after she was found deceased this morning.

"Her family have asked for privacy at this extremely difficult time."
