Police issue update as boy, 7, injured after being hit by bus

Police have issued an update after a seven-year-old boy was hit by a bus over the weekend. Emergency services descended on Moston Lane East, in Moston, at around 6.20pm on Saturday (October 12).

The boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries described as 'life-changing, but not life-threatening'. In an update issued, Greater Manchester Police has stated that the boy is now in a stable condition following surgery.

No arrests have been made following the incident. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is continuing to assist police with their enquires to establish the full circumstances over what happened.

Police and paramedics raced out to the scene on Sunday evening, with the crash involving a Bee Network bus and the boy, who was a pedestrian. No-one on board the bus was left injured.

A cordon was put in place around the bus on Saturday evening, with investigations taking place and the road closed to traffic. Danny Vaughan, chief network officer at TfGM, said: "We are aware of an incident [on Saturday] involving a child and a bus.

"Our thoughts are with the young boy involved and we wish him a speedy recovery. We are working closely with the bus operator and supporting police with their enquiries.”
