Man who died after being found outside Palace Theatre named as police make appeal

A man who died after being found unresponsive in Manchester city centre has been named by police.

Jonathan Bernard Carroll, 47, was discovered outside the Palace Theatre on Tuesday morning (November 12).

Emergency services were called to Whitworth Street at around 6.30am after Mr Carroll was seen outside the theatre on nearby Oxford Road. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

A cordon was in place as a police investigation got underway. The area outside the theatre was taped off, with officers standing guard.

Mr Carroll is believed to have lived in the Salford area, Greater Manchester Police said. In a Facebook post this morning, the force issued an appeal to help find Mr Carroll's next of kin.

Officers wrote: "We are appealing to find the next of kin of Jonathan Bernard Carroll (47), who sadly died after being found unresponsive in Manchester city centre on November 12.

"He is believed to have resided in the Salford area. Any information? Please contact the Coroner’s Office on 0161 856 1376."
