Erling Haaland's record since Man City star told Mikel Arteta to 'stay humble'
Erling Haaland's poor run in front of goal - by his standards -includes five from 11 games in all competitions to coincide with City's loss of form and confidence following their 4-0 thrashing by Tottenham - their fifth straight defeat.
by Oli Gamp · The MirrorManchester City forward Erling Haaland has seen his form fall off a cliff since he clashed with Mikel Arteta in September, scoring just two Premier League goals in that time.
Haaland famously told the Arsenal boss to "stay humble" after their 2-2 draw against the Gunners on September 22 - a game in which he scored the opening goal.
But despite leading the scoring charts with ten goals before that game, the Norwegian has been unable to reproduce in the following games, only managing to score in a 1-0 win over Southampton in October and in the 2-1 loss to Brighton earlier this month.
That includes a spell of five goals from 11 games in all competitions to coincide with City's loss of form and confidence following their 4-0 thrashing by Tottenham - their fifth straight defeat.
Arsenal fans will relish in Haaland's slump after his words to Arteta and also being involved in a heated clash with Gunners forward Gabriel Jesus at the end of that game.
Haaland is still leading the golden boot race with 12 goals after his early season blitz but has clearly been struggling in recent games.
Against Tottenham, he had seven shots, four of which were off target and lost five duels before hitting the crossbar with the score at 0-3.
Haaland had discussed City's rotten form ahead of the Spurs game and was asked if the spell had affected him personally.
"It's not normal in a club like this," he told Sky Sports. "It hurts, it clearly does. And the motivation is bigger than ever to go on Saturday and to win the game and to get on the run again.
"I think it's important to just let it go. It's the most difficult thing, even in life, to let things go and be sad and everything. 'If I'm going to start thinking about the last four games, that's not a good thing. And that's exactly what I didn't do.
"So it's about restarting, it's about looking at what's next, it's about staying in the present moment and to look what's ahead."
