Rape suspect on the run as police issue urgent warning he may be sleeping rough

A manhunt has been launched after a rape suspect went on the run, with police warning he may be sleeping on the streets.

Craig Dorney, 35, of Lewisham, is due to stand trial on Monday, December 2 after being charged with rape. On Tuesday, he breached his bail conditions with police issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Appealing to the public for help, the Metropolitan Police has released an image of Dorney - and described him as a slim, 6ft1 white man with an Irish accent.

DC James Hart, from the South East area’s Public Protection team, said: “We would urge anyone with information regarding Dorney’s whereabouts to urgently get in touch with us. We believe that he might currently be sleeping rough in and around London.”

"Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call police on 101 or message @MetCC on X quoting CAD 1240/29Jun.

"Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org."
