'Mo Salah has told Liverpool to sign me - I've been scoring goals for fun this season'
With Mohamed Salah yet to agree on a new contract with Liverpool, his potential replacement is one the Egyptian icon has already given his backing to
by Fasika Zelealem · The MirrorMohamed Salah has reportedly backed Omar Marmoush's arrival at Liverpool, with his Egyptian compatriot tearing up the Bundesliga this season.
The Eintracht Frankfurt forward has been on fire so far this campaign, having already racked up 14 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, with the Bundesliga side sitting third in the league.
Already calling himself a team-mate of Salah at the international level, the 25-year-old may find himself sharing a dressing room with the Liverpool legend, according to reports from BILD.
The German newspaper reported that Salah personally made a case for Liverpool to sign his compatriot and that Arne Slot's side will face no competition for his signature from Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga leaders are said to have bulked at Marmoush's reported price tag of £50million (€60m) with BILD adding that the forward would fit in well at the Premier League side due to his positional versatility.
Salah has been vocal regarding Marmoush's quality, which he's witnessed first-hand as he urged the public to refrain from comparing him to to his international team-mate.
During an interview with WinWin, the 32-year-old said: "Omar Marmoush, incredibly talented and currently a key player for his club and the national team. But I hope he can stay away from comparisons because they will keep putting him under constant pressure.
"I just want him to avoid the idea of comparisons. People need to stop comparing him to me, saying he’s ‘the new Salah’ and that he’ll do what I did or even better, this doesn’t help him; it only puts him under constant pressure.
"You can’t compare him to a player who has achieved so much over the years while he’s just starting out. Let him live his own experience and enjoy it. He’s doing something different, in his own unique way."
Marmoush's potential arrival at Anfield will add to an already-stacked forward line that includes Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa.
