Girl 'chased down street and bundled into car' as Somerset Police probe suspected kidnap

by Joe Smith · The MirrorAn urgent appeal for information has been launched by cops after a teenage girl was reportedly chased down a road and forced into a car.
The girl, who is said to be in her mid-to-late teens and roughly 5ft 5ins tall, was witnessed by members of the public being followed and forced into a vehicle in the town of Wincanton, Somerset.
The young girl was allegedly chased on foot after the driver left the vehicle, before she was grabbed and bundled into the back of the car.
Avon and Somerset Police said the incident occurred in the town of Wincanton, with the exact location reported to be the junction connecting The Batch and Shadwell Lane.
The driver of the vehicle is described by police as white, aged in his early 20's, of medium build, with light brown hair and as being slightly taller than the girl.
The car involved in the incident is reported as being a dark-coloured, five-door hatchback and it is believed there were multiple people inside at the time of the apparent abduction.
Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green said of the shocking incident: “This will understandably cause significant concern and a thorough investigation is already well underway to fully establish the circumstances and ensure the girl is safe.”
Enquiries were ongoing, Neighbourhood Rose Green assured residents, with police having already viewed CCTV footage in the area.
