M62 crash: Police and air ambulance rush to motorway as drivers face delays
Emergency services were seen rushing to the J24 (Ainley Top) to J25 (Brighouse) this afternoon with paramedics and police being spotted at the site of the incident
by Anders Anglesey · The MirrorTraffic along the M62 has ground to a standstill as police and air ambulance crews rushed to the motorway.
Emergency services raced to the M62 Eastbound between Ainley Top and Brighouse at about 3:15pm today. All lanes are currently closed and police and paramedics have been spotted at the scene.
According to Mirror affiliate The Manchester Evening News, there are reports of the air ambulance landing nearby as all traffic is held. National Highways said drivers could expect lengthy delays.
In a series of posts shared to its Yorkshire division's X/Twitter post, a National Highways spokesperson said: "The M62 remains closed in both directions between J24 and J25 following a serious collision.
"Traffic caught within the closure is being released via the rear of the queue. Please remain in your vehicles and await instruction from the police or a traffic officer."
Drivers have been told to expect delays of 60 mins above the normal travel time eastbound and more than 30 minutes westbound. National Highways said the road is likely to remain closed well into the evening.
