The ever-shifting shades of Donald Trump from pale to a vibrant orange have generated discussion and memes online, but one viral theory appears to indicate his liberal use of bronzer might be an indicator of his election confidence.

As a tidal wave of Americans prepare to head to the polls on Tuesday, former Republican president Trump and his Democrat rival Kamala Harris are battling for every vote. But a theory shared on social media claims the former president ups the amount of bronzer he uses the more stressed he becomes.

Ex-Time magazine photo editor Emily Keegin shared the oddball theory with her 281,000 Instagram followers in a series of photos that show Trump first clearly started using makeup on the hit NBC show The Apprentice and that it continued to escalate.

Sharing her theory behind the tone shift, she said: "We need to talk about the bronzer." She then went through several pictures and noticed a pattern.

"When Trump took office in 2017, he was significantly less orange," she said, according to The List. "But as his term went on...more bronzer was applied. The more stressed...the more makeup."

She also noted how Trump's confidence was on full display but that his makeup was not. But as soon as Harris started to skyrocket in the polls following President Joe Biden's withdrawals he started to apply it more liberally.

"When Trump was up in the polls and a victory was all but certain, the bronzer was not." She later added of Trump when he wore a Hi-Viz outfit following Biden's "garbage" remark: "We've never seen him like this."

In response, X/Twitter user @alyssalean shared several screenshots claiming his use of bronzer increased when he was stressed. "A photographer I follow on Instagram has put together that his bronzer use amps up when he's stressed/ close to an election and is tied to his days in the rise of reality TV, and it's fascinating," she said.

The photos showed Trump seemingly up the use of bronzer following the first assassination attempt against him in July to an extreme when he donned a garbage man's Hi-Viz vest that led him being compared to an Oompa Loompa from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Many others took to social media to share comparisons of Trump to Oompa Loompa's while other's seemed dumbfounded by Trump's facial tone shift.

Ex-Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson previously claimed the former president stopped wearing masks as they smeared his bronzer, MailOnline reported. She is not the only person close to the former president to notice the usage of makeup.

Former aide Omarosa Manigauly-Newman once claimed Trump had a tanning bed installed in the White House, although an insider denied those claims to the outlet.
