Aston Villa handed John McGinn injury blow as he's given news he was dreading
The Villans face Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek after Sunday's meeting with Ipswich Town, but captain McGinn won't be available to face the German giants

Aston Villa’s skipper was given the news he was dreading after a hamstring strain was worse than initially feared.
McGinn was taken off in the first-half of last week’s victory over Wolves and sported a glum face as he headed down the tunnel. There were suggestions afterwards that he might it might only necessitate a lay-off of around ten days. But scans showed it was worse than the initial prognosis and he now also looks set to miss out on the next round of internationals with Scotland.
Villa boss Unai Emery said: “He’s been out for one week and I think he will now be out for two or three weeks more. Our expectation is that he will be out for three or four weeks altogether.”
The news will come as a hammer-blow to the 29-year-old ahead of the repeat of the 1982 final that Villa won. However, Villa were buoyed after Emery revealed that long-term injury victims Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara were not too far away from return to his first-team squad.
He added: "They are training very well. They started training with us 100 per cent last week. The plan with them is to try and start playing with under-21s next week for 45 minutes. After the break they will be available if everything goes well.”

Emery refused point-blank to talk about the next eight days for the club. The Champions League clash against the German giants is sandwiched between a visit to Ipswich Town and the visit of Manchester United to Villa Park. Victories could put down a marker that Villa are a forced to be reckoned with. Emery, however, could see no further than a trip to Portman Road.
He said: “I can only repeat how important every game is because in the last two years we got in the Europa Conference League after being one point ahead of Brentford.
“Then it was two points difference with Tottenham for the Champions League.
“At the end of the season, we don’t want to remind ourselves of some moments when we weren’t focused on the points."
