Ruben Amorim has chosen to bring his staff with him from Sporting Lisbon - with one of them already boasting Premier League experience on his CV.

The Portuguese manager begun work at Manchester United this week and will be backed by those he knows well after his staff followed him from Lisbon. Five coaches have made the move with Amorim ahead of the new era beginning at Ipswich in a weeks time.

Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira are the men who will now join Amorim in the dugout. It meant there was no space left for Ruud van Nistelrooy. The new faces will join the likes of Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson, who were already in the set-up.

Fernandes comes in as the assistant head coach to Amorim and is likely to have the most influential role. He is just 29 but has a close relationship with Amorim having also been on his staff when he was in charge at Braga and Casa Pia earlier in his career.

Vital comes in as a goalkeeping coach, while Ferro will work as a first-team coach. Vital and Amorim were Braga colleagues when the new manager spent some time there time as a player later in his career, before they then teamed up in a coaching capacity.

Ferro worked at Benfica between 2006 and 2009, during which Amorim was a player at the Lisbon club. The pair reunited in the dugout at Sporting. Candido will also work as a first-team coach but whilst United have confirmed his appointment, that is still subject to him receiving a visa.

Barreira returns to England's top flight as a physical performance coach, as he was previously employed by Arsenal and Liverpool. He spent four years at Anfield, from 2011 to 2014, earning a qualification from one of the city's universities. Barreira is recognised as a data-driven individual, making use of GPS tracking and wellness monitoring, which bridges the gap between the medical and coaching teams.

Some of Ruben Amorim's trusted lieutenants have followed him to England

Amorim's coaching staff will help him in his quest to quickly get his ideas and philosophy across. Already he has underlined the need to get across his identity and ensure the team can play how he wants.

"I think you will see an idea," he said. "You could like it or not, I don't know, but you will see an idea. You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach that kind of level. You will feel that.

"We have to know that it's like two trainings before the first match. This is the best league in the world. But if I have to say something to you, [it's that] you will see an idea. This I can guarantee."
