Ruben Amorim gets timely reminder he has intimidating first job to tackle at Man Utd

Ruben Amorim will soon take charge of his first Manchester United fixture, but this Manchester City hero has warned of the obstacles the Portuguese will face

Ruben Amorim must overcome his inexperience in English football and bring a winning mentality to Manchester United, says Sergio Aguero.

The 39-year-old will face the rigours of the top-flight for the first time this weekend against Ipswich Town, and despite Erik ten Hag's departure not setting an insurmountable standard, there's undeniable pressure for Amorim to hit the ground running.

Challenging fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City before the festive period loom, and fans will be eager, and perhaps expectant, of Amorim having packed the mindset, that saw him win two league title's in Portugal, with him when flying to Manchester.

Legendary Manchester City striker Aguero has now sent a message to Amorim, stressing the urgency to adapt to life in England, and implant that victorious ethos at Old Trafford post-haste.

"Ruben Amorim is arriving with a very good record; he has done a great job for his last team," Agero told Stake. "Now, he has a challenge that many managers have failed to deliver, infusing United with the identity that its supporters have grown accustomed to.

"On top of that, it's Ruben's first season in England. Those are the obstacles that he'll need to tackle. That being said, he is a young, passionate manager and he has a team of great players to help him overcome those challenges."

Amorim has candidly expressed his astonishment at the grandeur of the football club he's now leading, but he insists this sense of wonder is not to be confused with naivety.

"The first impression is that it's so big, with a lot of departments," Amorim told Sly Sports. "I came from a big club in a small country. Here is a different world. You have a lot to do. You are not just a coach. You have to be something more.

"So it's a little bit different, but I think I'm prepared for that. And it's Manchester United. It doesn't matter the last years. We will have really hard moments, but in the end, I truly believe that we are going to succeed."

Addressing the concerns about the frequent managerial changes at Old Trafford post-Sir Alex Ferguson, Amorim acknowledged the expectations of the supporters and noted the necessity of time for his strategies to show results.

"I know that at this moment our fans are with mixed feelings - I want to be excited, but I have been here so I'm a little bit afraid," he added. "It's the same story all the time. I can be disappointed. So, what I can say is that I'm really excited. I'm not afraid to show it. But I have a clear idea that this will take time."
