Murder arrest after man stabbed to death near busy train station

Three have been arrested following the death of a 25-year-old man who was stabbed in Bristol at around 5.40pm on Friday, September 20 - and sadly died in hospital a short time later

Multiple arrests have been made after a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death near a Bristol train station on Friday night.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while two women have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Another male who was arrested last night has since been released with no further action.

Avon and Somerset Police officers arrested a 32-year-old man on the afternoon of Saturday, September 21, and he has been taken into custody. It follows the death of a 25-year-old man who was stabbed on Stapleton Road in East Bristol at around 5.40pm yesterday.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was taken to Southmead Hospital where he tragically died a short time later. The suspect in investigation was arrested in the Eastville area at about 5.45pm today (Saturday 21 September) following an investigation carried out after the attack. Two women, aged 36 and 47, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Mark Newbury, senior investigating officer at Avon and Somerset Police, said: "The arrest of a man this afternoon on suspicion of murder marks a significant development in our investigation. He is in custody and will be interviewed by detectives from our Major Crime Investigation Team in due course."

"We are in contact with close friends of the man who died and have updated them this evening of this news and continue to offer them support. Stapleton Road was reopened this afternoon following the conclusion of our inquiries at the scene and we are grateful for the public's understanding while that necessary work was undertaken."

"The community can continue to expect to see an increased high-visibility police presence over the next few days as we look to help anyone who has concerns following this tragic incident."
