Brits should have a go at the this tricky visual puzzle to give the brain a much needed workout during the run up to Christmas.

At first glance a black and white picture of a mother sitting having tea with her children while the father reads his paper next to a toddler seems perfectly normal but there are some very odd things going on in the image which you’ll have to really focus to spot.

If you’re feeling run down with work and struggling to maintain your concentration your brain may need a break and a change in focus. Or perhaps you are consumed by Christmas shopping and have thought of nothing else other than gift ideas, whether you’ve written all your cards or exactly when will be the best time to brave the supermarket for your festive food haul.

Whatever is going on in your busy life, there’s no doubt that having a short shift in attention and stepping away from things will do you good. Giving your mind a work out can help to refresh your memory and recharge your brain matter. A great way to do this is by tackling brainteasers, which can come in many different forms, but which all require you to solve a problem.

Everything looks perfectly normal at first

One such mind puzzle is this picture which at first glance looks perfectly normal. A family in the 1950s cartoon are at home in their living room enjoying some quality time together beside the fire. The mother is sitting at the dining table with four children who are happily tucking into some bread and butter and presumably looking forward to a slice of cake afterwards, all washed down with a cup of tea.

In the background the father is sitting on the sofa reading his paper, hopefully with one eye on the little toddler sitting next to him playing with her teddy. Nothing seems particularly remarkable about the setting or scene but if you study the image really carefully you will start to see some things aren’t quite how they should be.

There are 12 mistakes in the picture from Jagran Josh and originally from Pinterest which are going to take all of your concentration to find. So cast that Christmas list aside, step away from the spreadsheets and have a little ‘you’ time as you try to spot the errors. The task could help to improve your cognitive skills which may even give you a renewed vigour for your day’s chores.

To add an extra layer of difficulty to the puzzle and challenge your grey matter further, see if you can find all the anomalies in 13 seconds. That’s going to be quite a feat so get ready, set a timer and go! We’ll be providing the answers below so don’t scroll down until you want to see them.

Don’t give up if you don’t get them all in 13 seconds, keep going because you will feel a great sense of satisfaction when you find them all. This can lead to an increase in levels of dopamine, which controls your mood and motivation.

The answers are coming up. Did you manage to hunt them all down?
