Voice of the Mirror has had its say again

'Hold monster al-Assad's hired torturers to account as unspeakable crimes come to light'

As Syrian rebels draw up a 'hit list' of Bashar al-Assad's torture and murder squads the Voice of the Mirror says those who participated in the torture of Syrians should 'face their own day of judgement'

The torturers who mutilated and murdered Syrians on the orders of ousted Bashar al-Assad deserve to face their own day of judgment as the horrific depths of the tyrant’s reign of terror emerges.

The bloodied and broken bodies of victims are evidence of unspeakable crimes against humanity by an evil regime using barbaric methods to punish and kill even peaceful, non-violent critics for daring to question the dictator’s brutality.

Rebel Islamist leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani’s battle-hardened fighters are unlikely to show any mercy in return so the guilty must be fearing for their lives.

Trial and imprisonment at the International Criminal Court in the Hague is not an option for sadists who lived by the sword and will now probably die by the sword. Torture is abominable – a monstrosity rightly outlawed in all civilised countries around the world. Assad’s name will be reviled far into the future.

End home hell

Having enough homeless people to fill Wembley stadium four times over shows just what a state the Tories left this country in. Shelter’s informed estimate of 354,000 homeless includes 161,459 children – a rise of 14 per cent on this time last year.

Having a roof over your head is a cornerstone to a happy family life. Nobody expects Labour to end this curse immediately but a start is the least the homeless are entitled to see.

That is why no-fault evictions must end, rents need curbing and homes built to rent, particularly council houses, as well as buy.

Takes the cake

The price of mince pies is too much for sore eyes when they cost 40 per cent more in shops and supermarkets this year.

At this rate Little Jack Horner, sat in the corner, couldn’t afford to eat a Christmas mince pie.
