Woman's head almost squashed by bus during horror brawl that spills onto road

CCTV footage shared on social media showed a man and a woman wrestling with a third man on the pavement on Lower George's Street in Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, Ireland. The incident occurred at approximately 8pm on Saturday December 7, 2024.
The video, which lasts 61 seconds, shows a couple wrestling with a third man, wearing a black hat. The man with the black hat struggles with the other man, and the woman attempts to intervene but is the chaos, both the woman and the man in the hat fall onto the road.
As the woman falls onto the road, a bus can be seen driving by. The woman, who collides with the side of the bus, comes within inches of the vehicle driving over her head.
The bus drives on, out of the frame, but the woman can be seen lying injured at the side of the road. Meanwhile, a bystander intervenes by pinning the man in the hat to the ground, while the other man goes to the aid of the woman.
"Gardaí attended the scene and are investigating following report of an incident of alleged assault on Lower George’s Street, Dun Laoghaire, on Saturday 7th December 2024," a Gardaí spokesperson told the Irish Mirror.
"The incident occurred at approximately 8pm. A woman (aged in her 50s) was conveyed to St Vincent’s University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing. No further information is available at this time," the spokesperson added.
Elsewhere in Dublin, the Gardaí are continuing to question a man in his 30s, who has been arrested in connection with the assault of two off-duty gardaí in the city centre yesterday morning.
The investigation is ongoing into the assault, which occurred around 1.30am yesterday, at the junction of Dame Street and Eustace Street.
A man is being detained at a garda station in the Dublin region. Both gardaí sustained injuries during the assault, with one of the men, who is in his 40s, in a critical condition.
The second man was also taken to hospital, but was subsequently discharged. Garda sources have said that it was "an unprovoked attack" as the two men were on their way home after a night out.
The Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Simon Harris said on social media platform X [formerly Twitter]: "My thoughts are with the off duty Gardai who were victims of an alarming & egregious attack in Temple Bar last night, one of who remains in hospital.
"The perpetrators of this attack will face the full rigours of the law." A forensic examination of the area has been carried out, and CCTV footage is also being looked at. The gardaí has made an appeal for any witnesses, especially anyone who may have mobile phone or dash-cam footage and who was in the Dame Street or Temple Bar area of Dublin between 1am and 1.45am yesterday, to contact them.
