Inside new Everton stadium from home dugout and pitch to cup holders on padded seats
Everton are battling relegation once again under Sean Dyche this season and will be desperate to ensure their opening matches in the new stadium next year are not played in the Championship
by Oli Gamp · The MirrorEverton fans have been given a glimpse of their new £800million stadium, with the dugout taking shape and even swanky padded seats with cupholders being installed.
The Toffees will be moving into their plush 52,888 capacity arena on Bramley-Moore Dock next summer as they prepare to leave behind Goodison Park - their home for the last 132 years.
Everton are battling relegation once again this season and will be desperate to ensure their opening matches in the new stadium are not played in the Championship, though there is a real danger of that possibility with Sean Dyche's men only three points clear of the relegation zone.
The team have gone three games without a win but at least have some optimism after new images of their glitzy stadium were published, showing that the final touches of the new ground are being made.
Pictures display a full view of the turf inside the stadium, with the pitch almost fully laid out in front all of the seats, which have all been installed in the iconic blue colour.
Fans can also see what Dyche's dugout will look like next to the tunnel - and some lucky fans positioned right above them will get an intimate look at whats happening on the home bench during matchdays.
For those willing to splash out on premium hospitality, there will be a comfy padded seat waiting for you, with a picture showing black cupholders positioned in the back of chairs for an extra feeling of comfort.
Test events for the stadium are set to take place in the summer of 2025 to ensure the arena meetings safety regulations ahead of its first competitive fixture in August.
The stadium architects are using millions of synthetic fibres in their soil to create the playing surface, which are designed to "interlock" with the grass to strengthen it and provide longevity.
The club are in talks to be taken over by the Friedkin Group ahead of the big stadium move and Dyche's future is up in the air - but the former Burnley boss hopes he is still in charge to witness the new ground next season.
"Of course I do [want to be here]. What, dig this out for 21 months, or whatever it will be by then, for them to go: 'Thanks for looking after us, off you pop'? Of course I would, but there is no divine right that they will say: 'You are definitely the person to do this'. And, if not, that is the way it goes."
