Chelsea provide early double team news hint ahead of Heidenheim clash and Enzo Maresca changes

by · football.london

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been no stranger to making wholesale changes to his team and squad for the club’s UEFA Conference League clashes so far this season, and it is expected to be no different this week.

The Blues travel to Germany on Thursday evening to take on Bundesliga side Heidenheim. Chelsea sit at the top of the group stage league table, having won all three of their games in the competition, their last outing saw them come out as 8-0 winners over FC Noah, despite 11 changes to the starting lineup.

The UEFA Conference League does give Maresca a chance to give some of the club’s younger players a chance in the first team. And absences and appearances in the Development squad’s team for Tuesday night’s Premier League International Cup against Real Sociedad could give some clues as to who may be involved.

18-year-old winger Tyrique George is not part of the Development squad. He has featured in all of Chelsea’s Conference League group games so far, including a start in the win over Noah.

Central midfielder Kiano Dyer is also not on the squad list, He was an unused substitute against Gent back in October, but has not been included in any of the squads since. His absence from the Development squad could hint that he is part of the travelling squad making their way to Germany.

Two players who have previously been involved in Chelsea’s Conference League campaign, are Sam Rak-Sakyi and Shumaira Mheuka. However, they have both started for the Development squad, hinting that they may not be part of the travelling squad for Thursday’s clash.
