One woman was killed and multiple other Israelis were wounded Monday evening when a barrage of ten rockets was fired by Hezbollah in Lebanon at the northern Arab town of Shfar’am, resulting in at least one direct hit.

According to Magen David Adom (MDA), medics treated five wounded victims, all of them conscious.

The sixth victim was a woman who was trapped amidst the rubble of the building that was hit. She was subsequently extracted from the collapsed three-story building in critical condition. After repeated attempts to revive her, medics were forced to declare her death.

Rami Swaid, a United Hatzalah EMT at the scene, reported that a rocket directly hit the residential building. “We provided assistance at the scene to over 20 residents of the building in various conditions,” Swaid said.

Some of the victims were evacuated by United Hatzalah ambulances that arrived at the scene. United Hatzalah Psychotrauma teams provided support to those experiencing shock and trauma.

A direct hit was also reported in the Arab city of Tamra.

The Iron Dome aerial defense system intercepted a number of other rockets in the attack.

Earlier in the day, one woman in northern Israel was injured during a rocket barrage fired by Iran’s Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah at around midday.

The 65-year-old woman was taken to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya with a neck wound after being hit by shrapnel. A second person was treated for severe anxiety following the attack.

A 34-year-old man in Nahariya was also wounded in a separate rocket attack; Hezbollah has been raining rocket fire on the city for days. The man was treated by MDA medics and then taken to Galilee Medical Center in the city for further care.

Rockets also scored direct hits in the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona, damaging several homes and a local hesder yeshiva that was empty at the time due to the students having been previously relocated to central Israel.

The terrorist army fired rockets at the Upper and Western Galilee regions since early morning; a barrage of some 30 rockets was also launched at the coastal city of Nahariya and surrounds.

Although some of the rockets were intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array, others landed, including many that exploded in “open areas” — which include agricultural fields, parks, and areas with city and commercial infrastructure.

US Middle East envoy Amos Hochstein is expected to arrive in Beirut to discuss Lebanon’s response to an American ceasefire proposal that has been tentatively approved by Israel.

Hezbollah will reportedly not be asked to sign the agreement, which leaves open the question of whether the proposal is even relevant.
