Man in his 70s dies following hit and run in Co Fermanagh

A man in his 70s has died after a hit and run incident in Co Fermanagh.

Richard Maze had been riding a motorcycle in Belleek when there was a collision with a car that failed to stop and he died at the scene.

Police in Northern Ireland say they have since arrested a 70-year-old man following the incident.

A statement from the PSNI said they are investigating the road traffic collision which occurred on the Boa Island Road at approximately 2.55pm.

The PSNI said the 70-year-old man remains in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the investigation.

Police said the road remains closed this evening and diversions will be in place overnight.

Police said enquiries are ongoing and that they are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have captured dash-cam footage of the collision to contact them.
