16 people charged after protests held in Dublin

Sixteen people have been charged in relation to incidents during protests in Dublin city centre yesterday.

Gardaí dealt with a number of public order incidents in the capital, with 22 people arrested.

Fourteen men and eight women ranging in age from their 20s to 60s were arrested, 16 of which have since been charged.

The charges relate primarily to public order offences, along with charges of assault, criminal damage and possession of a knife.

One man has already appeared before the courts, with three more individuals due before Dublin District Court this morning.

Thirteen others were charged and released with court appearances scheduled over the coming weeks.

Gardaí said the remaining individuals will be dealt with under the adult caution scheme.
