· RTE.ie

Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public to help identify a man whose body was recovered from the water at Claddagh Quay in Galway earlier this month.

The man is believed to have been aged in his 60s and to have had an Irish accent.

His body was recovered on 17 November and gardaÍ said that despite extensive enquiries he has not yet been identified.

Superintendent Paudie O'Shea of Galway Garda Station said he is appealing to owners of guest houses, landlords, hotels, hostels, B&Bs and Airbnbs to check if anybody left their premises and may have left property behind.

The man is described as being 1.70m (5'7") in height, of medium build, around 78-80kg and had blue eyes and full head of red/grey hair.

He also had a grey beard, and slightly red moustache and had black-rimmed glasses on his person.

He was wearing a grey tweed suit jacket and trousers, a blue/white striped shirt with a flowery print along the seams where the buttons are, and inside the collar. He was also wearing size 10 back laced dress shoes, Asos brand.

Gardaí have asked that anyone with information should contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
