States of Mind: The fallout as Donald Trump wins election

And just like that, after months of campaigning, thousands of miles on the road and billions of dollars spent, the US Presidential Election has its victor.

Donald Trump claimed what he described as a "magnificent victory" and pledged to "help the country to heal".

Kamala Harris meanwhile conceded last night, but added that she does "not concede the fight that fueled this campaign."

Over the coming days and weeks Democrats will pour over what went wrong and what more they could have done.

To the victor go the spoils however, and Mr Trump and his Republican party will spend that time appointing intending Cabinet members to his administration, ahead of January's inauguration.
