Gardaí investigate alleged abduction, assault in Cork

Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses following the alleged assault and abduction of a man in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, who is in his 20s, was assaulted and then abducted from his home in Maryborough Hill in the Douglas area of Cork at around 2.30am.

He was put into a vehicle but managed to escape when it crashed at Curraheen Park in Bishopstown.

Gardaí attended the scene and brought the injured man to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

They want to hear from anyone who was travelling in the Maryborough Hill or Curraheen Park areas around the time of the incident.

They would also like to hear from anyone who has video, such as dash-cam or helmet-cam, recorded in the area.
